Wake Session W/Almond and Teddy

Fun Day Skating with the crew!! Its hard to get it all together for a 6am call but some clean water
makes it mandatory. I’m a bit of a night owl and this I morning was moving a little slow.
Almond got out and was pushing for a kick flip..made Teddy and I step it up a bit!!
Teddy even took one to the head!! Going big!!

Look for more adventures with our little crew!! We’ve got our winch spot locked in and planning some new shoots soon!

X Games 16 – Risking it all for glory!!!

I start my blog with this sequence, from one of the scariest crashes I’ve ever seen. Paris Rosen crashed attempting a front flip Friday Night, at X Games 16

From Paris’s FB Blog: Thank you everyone for all the prayers and well wishes! That was one gnarly crash! Just thank god I can walk! Broken lower back, severed liver, broken rib cage, separated hip, and bruised lung.

Topanga CA July 21, 2010 DMZ Surfboards

The morning started out with news of a great white floating by the day before..
“Scott at SunsetSurf.com reported the following from Ariel Ilinas; “A bunch of us just got chased out of the water at Topanga State Beach around noon by a big Great White Shark. I didn’t see it but all I heard in the water were a bunch of surfers screaming like little girls out at the point. One of the surfers said the dorsal fin was about 2 feet hi…”

2008 Freeze Ride – Carlsbad Lagoon, CA

2008 Freeze Ride – Carlsbad Lagoon, CA Story by: Darrin Nupuf 2008 – darrin@wakesurfskate.com Saturday, February 23rd, Carlsbad Lagoon, CA. freezeride A few compadres and I decided to check out this year’s February Freeze Ride put on by WakeSports, Liquid Force and Carlsbad Lagoon. They had a couple of Mastercraft Boats to take care of the pulls. We woke up pretty early to make the drive to San Diego to check out the scene. Everyone at the shop was really cool. This was a great chance for us to check out some of the new Liquid Force equipment, first hand. I’ve been interested in shooting more sequences so I rented a solid 70-200, Canon Lens for the adventure. For $20 you get a pull on the board of your choice with a BBQ lunch included. Collin Harrington and the Valdez brothers, Jacob and Eddie, were hanging out all day giving everyone tips and having a great time!

This movie requires Flash Player 9

I tried the new LF Hampson Bi-level board. This was my first go at a Bi-Level. The board had a flat bottom and wooden decks. Add the fact that salt water makes you a little more buoyant, thus even looser. This was a fun, loose board with a ton of pop.

Both of the Mastercraft boats were roomy and put up solid wakes. The lagoon really stayed nice all day. Some of the everyday riders that showed up, like us, were killing it with pro-quality tricks!! We hung out well into the evening hours. When dinner time rolled around, we were referred to a sushi place right up the freeway. The place was absolutely one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to! We received the bill for three people including beers and it was only $60! I would re-visit just to go back to that sushi place! I Promise I will post the name of the place when I find the receipt!

I had a lot of fun shooting this event and I’m really glad I was finally able to develop a home for stories of this kind. I hope more people contribute!
